Measuring Margate

We invite you to help us ‘measure’ Margate.

Measuring Margate is an arts project that directly engages with the ideas behind the work of artist Jenny Wiener and explores and questions systems for measuring, mapping and treasure maps.

A system for measuring can include the traditional of length, time, distance etc to the more creative of how many colours can be counted, how many cracks in the pavement, the number of cars that were passed. In fact the systems used for measuring will only be limited by imagination.

We aim to inspire you to ask questions and find the answers. For example

• How do you measure Margate ‘Old’ Town?
• How would you measure a clock tower?
• How do you measure the contemporariness of Turner Contemporary?
• How many colours are there in Margate?
• How would you measure your business?

Measuring Margate Day will be on Saturday 9th July. More details soon and on the Measuring Margate website. Take a look at the measurements added so far and enter your own.
