Pushing Print encourages artists, businesses and organisations to become a part of the annual festival by putting on their own events. We feel this adds to the richness of the event and creates an exciting festival where printmaking is highlighted and celebrated throughout Margate.

In a change to the published programme Blackbird is now
thrilled to announce that instead of ‘Greetings
From Margate’ we will be showing hand coloured screen prints by Steve McPherson.
McPherson’s prints are a series of 10 hand pulled screen prints, based on
taxonomies of Marine Plastic finds from around the UK.
In addition to this Blackbird will also be running SATURDAY SCREEN PRINTING WORKSHOPS
15th OCTOBER 10.30 – 2.30
22nd OCTOBER 10.30 – 2.30
£48 including materials per person per session
Each session is a short introduction to screen printing on fabric, using paper stencils. You will be
guided through drawing and cutting your own stencil and using colours and inks.
You will then learn how to print your design on to a variety of sample fabric
pieces. After some experimentation you will complete the session by producing your own printed tea towel and cotton
shopper bag. Only 4 places per session so book early to avoid disappointment.
